WALK AND TALK THERAPY

This kind of therapy combines two researched backed activities walking and talk therapy, both proven to improve wellness. Together we will combine them to achieve both physical and emotional goals. Your initial session will be in the office or through video. We will discuss all the details and logistics and determine if walk and talk is conducive to your needs. We will discuss risks and rewards then at your subsequent visit set off on a local trail or your neighborhood street for a 45 minutes walk. We will walk at your pace so as long as you can manage 45 minute walk anyone can participate. New mothers with small children find walk and talk therapy a conducive way to get their needs met. Strollers with young kids can be accommodated. Like all exercise just make sure it is ok with your doctor. Local trails including Martha Lafite, Stockdale, Happy Rock, Smithville, Wildlife Habitat, Hickory Grove are a few trail options.

Walk + Talk therapy may be right for you if…

  • Going to therapy has always been intimidating or the idea of being in a stale office space is not appealing,

  • You are a new mom with some postpartum, baby blues, or the idea hiring a babysitter or leaving your baby is difficult or unaffordable,

  • You have wellness goals to meet and walking is an exercise you know you need more of,

  • You appreciate the outdoors and non traditional methods,

  • You are struggling with meeting indoors for therapy due to COVID and the idea of video sessions doesn't sound appealing.

WHAT ABOUT CONFIDENTIALITY??

I seek to maintain the highest respect to your confidentiality and we will make efforts to ensure your privacy; however I can not guarantee people will not overhear us. I will not introduce myself or disclose who I am in relationship to you while in public. We will agree to our location and time of day to reduce disruption.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear whatever is comfortable and dress for the weather. Most walk and talk in outside unless we can find local indoor walking track.

IN WHAT CASES IS WALK AND THERAPY TALK NOT IDEAL?

In cases of working and processing through traumatic experiences I would not suggest walk and talk as a therapeutic option. Some components of therapy require us to have access to materials in an office space.
